Peter met his killer at the Limelight on the evening of May 24 and was killed at 3:30AM the next morning at the Allerton Hotel on 22nd Street in Chelsea from multiple stab wounds. The suspect fled on foot after the murder towards Ninth Avenue, covered in blood.
